Kitesurfing Lessons are not a recommendation they are a must do. Most of us learned to surf from getting beat up in the
but Kiting as a higher danger factor. What is great about the Water Sport is that it has a faster learning curve. One can be a really proficient rider in a week or so of lessons from a certified instructor.
There are a few certification companies such International Kite Organization (IKO), British Kite Surfing Association (BKSA), International Kiteboarding Association (ISAF), & United States Kitesurfing Association. Plus there are many regional and personal associations that give lessons & promote the sport. They basically have the same idea to promote safety, responsibility, train instructors, and progress the sport.
I will say this, go with an instructor that you feel comfortable with. If price is your number one, then remember the words of my grandpa "you get what you pay for." I am not saying that good instruction and cheap price do not go hand and hand. I am just saying that safety and a comfortable feeling should be your number ones. Ask around to other kiters, look in online forums, visit kite schools, then chose the best fit for your instruction.
As you can see there are many to schools to choose from, plus there are many "independent contractors" without websites, in Cabarete to choose from. Being such a small community and having such a focus on wind sports there is no room for having poor kitesurfing lessons or unsafe instruction. They get run out of town quick! As I stated before I recommend coming here and making a decision once to go checkout the schools and meet the instructors. This is the best and usually cheapest bet. There is no school that I recommend over the others.
